Welcome to Martin Crownover Games!

August 5, 2006 - Well, I've been a bit busy working on the website, getting new features added to the Reflect Account System, and working on my own project (Aster Blaster HS), however I have found the time to play around a bit with some advanced math in GM and put out an example of the Mandelbrot fractal being drawn in GM. If you like looking at neat mathematically created images (and who doesn't?) then you should download the example and try it out!

Aster Blaster HS is finally seeing some of the more creative scenarios missions come to life, and I will post a new demo on the forums when I've got a significant amount of stuff added to the game. Hopefully the game will take on a more unique flavor with the new stuff being added to it... Some of the new objects from the scenarios might find their way into the classic game too, to help spice things up, so be on the lookout!

Until next time, enjoy the games I have release so far this summer, and continue to support the Reflect system, it's been a great success so far!

July 16, 2006 - Not even a month later, and another game is finished! Linked, a multiplayer drawing program, has been added to the games section. You'll need a Reflect Account to take full advantage of it. A lot of people have found a lot of fun in chatting and drawing with friends and new acquaintances using Linked, hopefully you will too!

Work has begun on Aster Blaster HS, and while I do not have any screens up on the site as of yet, you can find download a beta version of the game here. I hope to have this one finished in a few weeks as well. It will feature a few different modes of play, and will be familiar and fun for anyone who enjoys an Asteroids-style game.

For one final bit of news, I have been playing around with the coding of this site and have finally gotten the first page to be WC3 validated. I will be slowly working through the rest of the pages to make sure they are complient. Not really noticable in a casual visit to the site, but the code monkeys out there who like to view web page source should hopefully notice a few small improvements here and there.

June 26, 2006 - Evolites has been added to the completed section of the games page, and Hover Tank 3D has been crowned the King of the Cagematch over at the GMC! It's been quite a busy month, but everything is cooling offf now, so I will be busy at work on other projects soon! If you haven't already, check out the Reflect Games website, a collaborative game-creation effort between myself and a few others. We're working hard to make games with smooth and fun online functionality, so expect more fun along those lines soon!

May 18, 2006 - The examples page has been updated! Each example now contains a brief discription of what it is, it's controls, and a small screenshot thumbnail. Hopefully this will make the examples page a bit more useful and accessible to people.

I am considering working out more affilliates for the side bar, and randomly cycling through them. Another addition I am thinking about is a random collection of screenshots that appear at the top of each page, which will link to their respective work if you click on them. I'm not sure if I'll have much time to tinker with it in the near future, because I have some deadlines approaching, but we shall see! In the meantime, enjoy the updated site!

May 17, 2006 - It's been a little while since I updated the news section on this site, and I would like to post about some of the new things on the site, and upcoming stuff!

I am currently working on a bunch of different things (most of them not really game-related), but I have had time to start playing around with an evolution / organism simulator, which I have named Evolites. You can find a demo for Evolites on the games page, and discuss it with others in the forums. It's coming along quite well, and will hopefully not take too long to complete!

You may also want to check out the examples section, as two new examples have been added. The first is a 3D camera example, to help people who are new to dynamic camera movement gather their bearings in 3D. The second is a 3D grass example, with grass created via alpha masks, and made to scroll infinitely on a cylindric world. Both examples come with GM6 files, so check 'em out!

Since the last update, I have also sold my first game! I was contracted to create a game titled "When Disaster Strikes, Will You Be Prepared?" by a local insurance company. The game is a trivia game which rewards users for answering disaster preparedness questions, and was created and developed in about 3 weeks. This was a very short amount of time to make a game, but the final product turned out very polished, and I will post some screenshots in the games section as soon as I get a chance.

If all goes according to plan, I will also be working on a side-scrolling platformer game entitled Gunner McJack, P.A.K. soon after all the dust settles from the work I'm doing now, but I will post more on this as it develops. I'm also planning on adding some more info to the examples section, with a small thumbnail screenshot for each one, and a longer description, to make the section more handy.

Thank you to everyone for continuing to visit the site! Keep checking back for future updates and examples!

March 31, 2006 - Put up another small update a few days ago, added some more links to the link box on the side of the games site, and added a vote button for the GMG Topsites. Don't forget to vote!

Over the next few months I'll hopefully be adding some more examples here, so if there is anything you would like to see, please post about it in the forum, and I'll see what I can do. Thanks for checking out the site!

March 7, 2006 - The site has been updated! Photo Fade Screensaver has been added to the games list (yeah, yeah, I know, it's not really a game...), the resources links have been updated, and I have made a few error corrections and updates to some of the other games. If you find anything that needs to be changed / added / removed please let me know via the forums!

February 5, 2006 - A few small updates have been made to the site, as well as a new example (3D Layered Water) has been added. I will be including a few previews of things to come soon, so keep checking back!

January 11, 2006 - Hey everyone, welcome to the official site for all games, examples, and other related materials made by me, Martin Crownover. This sub-site of my main website was designed to showcase my various work with Game Maker, and any other game development tools I end up learning as I continue my hobby of combining my art with programming. Currently all games and examples provided on the site are made entirely with Game Maker.

Check out the games section for all my completed work, as well as bits and pieces of things I happened to try my hand at along the way. Each game is accompanied by screenshots and notes explaining how the game was designed, and how to play it.

I've also included a section where I can post examples I have made in Game Maker, so that others can take what I have developed, and use it in their own game, to learn from, or simply take it to the next level. My programming isn't the greatest, but it usually gets the job done in a reasonably efficient way, and oftentimes it is the concept behind the work that is the most valuable, and not neccessarily the raw code.

Finally, I've also got some forums set up, for anyone who wants to discuss any of my games, the website, or other games that I think meet the quality and effort that my own do. If you're looking for someone to play against in one of my games, help with a feature, or just want to let poeple know what's on your mind, the forums are for you.

Anyway, thanks for visiting, and I hope you can find some enjoyment in the work I have posted here! I am always busy making new things, so check back occasionally!
